At Macmillan Learning our International Sales and Marketing team is in the early stages of an ambitious journey to grow global market share and establish a leading role in shaping the future of Higher Education. As part of this growth, we are recruiting a Sales Development Executive to join our International Sales team.
This is an inside-sales based combined business development and account management role. The core purpose is to drive revenue growth by winning, retaining and expanding digital sales at strategic accounts within specified Southern Hemisphere territories, most notably South Africa, Australia and South East Asia. Key responsibilities of the role include; building a strong pipeline of new business sales opportunities, closely partnering with existing customers to ensure the retention and expansion of our current business base, developing relationships with key academic stakeholders and keeping abreast of HE sector developments.
This is an exciting entry-level opportunity for an energetic, driven and results-focused individual looking to develop a career in publishing and keen to make their mark within a small and dynamic team. You will be a self-starter who enjoys variety, comfortable working autonomously with an interest in working across a range of different international markets. Having the right attitude and ambition is more important to us than anything, and we welcome applications from recent graduates and those early in their careers. Full training and support will be provided along with ongoing professional development opportunities.
This Is a permanent, full-time, hybrid role, with 3 days p/wk based in the Kings Cross office. Occasional travel for conferences and customer meetings will be required as will some flexibility in working hours to accommodate different time zones.

About you:
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent)
- Results-orientated with a strong desire to meet and exceed commercial targets
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to understand and articulate customer needs and build strong relationships at all levels
- Confident in dealing with senior academics and university staff
- Self-motivated, able to work autonomously but also collaborate as part of a small team
- Strong organizational skills, able to manage and prioritize a complex workload
- Natural curiosity, resilience and a strong desire to learn
- Be flexible and adaptable
- An interest in education and a desire to help transform learning through technology
- Able to work from the Head Office in Kings Cross 3 days/week.
- Flexibility to travel as needed for conferences and customer visits
- Fluent written and spoken English
You may also have:
- Proven successful sales/business development/customer success/account management experience in a relevant industry
- Ability to analyze and interpret sales revenue and other data
- Proficiency in using CRM software and digital communication tools
- Ability to confidently present digital solutions online and in-person
- Proficiency in another European language would be advantageous
- The hours of the position are 35 hours per week.
